A Wednesday Afterschool

I punch in the number on my phone for the tenth time, but no answer. “Shit, I won’t be able to stay after school without her permission.” I stopped calling on my fifteenth try and gave up. I start to walk towards the bus in defeat. I look for my bus (yeah it Wednesday so we have a different bus that takes us so; I have to look for a bus with a tiny sign saying number 12.I find it and look inside. “Damn why does the bus always have to come full on a Wednesdays?” I ask myself. I maneuver myself gingerly over the scrap yard of backpacks, binders, and lunchboxes. Until I get to the back of the bus where I sit next to Alan (a sixth grader), and we sit there just talking. Then I look in-front of me and there I see the biggest headphones of my life. I was dumbfounded when I saw the headphones. Eduardo (a tenth or eleventh grader not the eighth grader), was using them and so, I asked him if I could borrow it. He puts the volume to max and says to try it, and I do. BOOM! The music starts to blast in my ear. It was really loud but awesome. Then Alan tried it and last but not least Prashan tried it.
“This is the ultimate ignoring parents’ device.” I said
“Yeah, that is true.” Eduardo says as he puts on his headphones and starts to move his head back and forward to the rhythm of the song.
Then everything goes back to normal, everyone has their earphones on listening to their music, minding they’re on business, and the little chit chat the small kids are having continues as it does every day. As we all wait to get left by our house one by one. If only my mom answered her phone I won’t be at home bored out of my mind. I have already done my homework and studied for the math test tomorrow (Thursday). So, I grab my guitar and learn how to play the introduction of the song Wake Up by: Three Day Grace. I move my fingers from string to string trying to play it fast, but I’m not able to I have to keep practicing. I keep practicing until my fingers start to hurt so, I put my guitar away and I and I go to sleep…
